Who We Are
Asian American Artists began through our participation in National History Day, where we created a documentary titled Poems, Canvases, and Cameras: How Asian Americans Created Revolution Through Art. While researching the project, we discovered the powerful role Asian American artists have played throughout history, using art to respond to discrimination, represent their communities, and make their voices heard.
As we continued our research, we realized that many of these artists and their stories were difficult to find and often left out of broader conversations about American art and history. What began as research for a single documentary became something we wanted to continue beyond National History Day. That realization led us to create Asian American Artists.
Our Mission
Asian American Artists connects pioneering legacy with youth innovation. We highlight the ground-breaking artists whose work preserves cultural memory, identity, and history. We foster creative growth within youth artists through storytelling and intergenerational connection.
